Every once in a while I'm able to photograph a friend's wedding...and it is my favorite. This wedding in particular I wouldn't have been invited to otherwise, as it was an intimate affair for their closest family and friends. So not only was I blessed to be one of the few to witness them tie the knot, but I got a backstage pass to every part of their day. From getting ready to the first look, to those intimate moments that I help create during sunset photos...it was a treat spending such an important day with these two.
As a previous resident of the Big Island, Cody met Emily while she was here on vacation. They have so much in common, and clearly hit it off! Wanting to bring their love story full circle, they decided on a destination wedding back on the island where they first met. They enjoyed a week of holiday with friends and family at their two big oceanfront vacation rental homes in Kealakekua Bay, complete with a nighttime manta ray snorkel + dive trip, a backyard BBQ rehearsal dinner, and topped off the week with their wedding at the Fairmont Orchid's Coconut Grove. Even with a little wind, the night was perfect for dancing under the palms...er...stars.
